Leamington awarded Whole Club Seal of Approval

Leamington Rugby Club are delighted and proud to announce that the RFU has, this week, awarded the club the Whole Club Seal of Approval. This accreditation is used as a method of ensuring high quality provision of rugby in clubs. Clubs must demonstrate evidence of good practice against 68 criteria, in areas such as club management, player development and recruitment, child protection, sports equity, coaching, refereeing and volunteering. The Whole Club scheme was introduced in 2009 and builds on the earlier Youth Seal of Approval, which Leamington was one of the first clubs to qualify for, in 2003.

The award was developed as a response to the Clubmark award developed by Sport England and the Seal of Approval is recognized by them as qualifying clubs for that award. It is a pre-requisite for obtaining RFU funding or any other national sports assistance.

The process of approval has been long and complicated and has been an excellent example of the youth and senior parts of the club working together, to satisfy the criteria and show that we are a safe and reputable club.

The club would like to thank in particular Maurice Goymer, Tony Timms, Tony Bobath, Roger Crockford, Natasha Yurkevic-El and Lee Foster for their help in pulling things together.

We are likely to receive our award at an official presentation in around March 2012.
