Charity Night Hike turns into a Snow Walk
News date:
08 February 2009
News description:
Friday 6th February was one of the coldest nights of the year as temperatures plunged to -6c but it wasn't enough to deter the twenty five night hikers from the U14s. The 10 mile cross-country route from Whitnash to Southam Rugby Club skirted Offchurch and Radford and was covered in fresh snow which had drifted in places.
This year the team are touring Jersey during the Easter break and their fundraising efforts have include bag-packing, selling mulled wine at the Christmas party, a hamper raffle, and this sponsored hike. Their chosen charity is Myton Hospice (last year over £600 was donated to Helen Ley Centre).
The walk was organised and lead by our Child Welfare Officer Malcolm Doody, and included a fish & chip supper half way (thanks to "Tim's Chipper" for providing those - delicious), and ended with a sleep-over at Southam Rugby Club.
We hope to better the 2008 total by raising over £1500 from the walk.
Well Done Guys a great effort - make sure you get the sponsor money in now!
